I hate saturdays. Time ceases to exist on saturday mornings at the shop. So, to pass the time, we decided to cup the new coffees we got in from Victrola yesterday and pour some milk drinks.
The first coffee we tried was the Guatemalan Hueltue. Now, we didn't actually cup any of these coffees, I lied. Instead, in an exercise of impatience, we went straight to french pressing and shot pulling. The Guatemalan pulled with a semi-light body, great crema, and a wonderful nose of rich chocolate and subtle spices. The frontal notes were a nice sweet chocolate and well balanced vanilla, followed by slightly acidic, dark fruit elements, (cherry, fig, currant). The finish was clean and held much of the chocolate from the front. In milk, a lot of the best characteristics were lost as the sweetness of the milk did more to cover up than compliment. The cinnamon was very pronouced in the nose, but very subtle in the actual taste. I'll post the results of the Colombian El Corazon later.

We got a new toy. Now we just have to figure out how to work it. For some reason, it burns all the smoothies we've been making in it.

BE WARNED!! If we know you, and you roast coffee, you WILL be recieving bags of sub-par coffee from us soon, as soon as we clean all the strawberry goo out of the drum.

So, we've been trying to get a website up forever, and strong advances have been made. But for now, we have "UglyNews", which will be our faux-site until we get something else done.
Here you can learn about what's new at the shop, read the rantings of random Ugly Mug baristi, and comment on how much you love us.

Some general shop info:
We're a indie coffee shop in Michigan, which is similar to coffee hell, but it snows here. We carry coffees from Victrola Coffee, Roaster X, and we have a ever-changing guest espresso tap. Our turn-ons include puppies, zombie porn, and pina coladas. No fatties.
